Brave Women- "Armor Strong"

Hello ladies! I hope that you all are doing well today. I also pray that this series on "Armor Strong" is blessing you as much as it is blessing me. We began this journey in May, and God led me to continue it for the month of June. This month we will deal with practical ways that we can "B" Armor Strong. Last week, we began with being Armor Strong by being Bold Women, and this week we will focus on being Brave Women.

Brave- possessing or exhibiting courage or courageous endurance.

I mention last week that Courage is not the absence of fear, but the ability to do what is required in spite of the fear that is present. As women, we have to "B" Brave. There are a lot of ways that the enemy will try to bring fear into areas of our lives. However, the Bible says 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." The way we experience Victory is not by cowering in fear, but victory comes from acting Bravely.

There are three ways that you can act as Brave Woman of faith:

1. Be obedient to God

2. Be Unashamed of who you are

3. Be Prayerful in the midst of Adversity

1. Be obedient to God

It takes bravery to be obedient to God. Sometimes obedience to God means that you are walking completely by Faith. Following God's instruction often takes you out of your comfort zone. However, there are benefits to being obedient to God. He may lead you to open a business, start teaching the word, take on a new responsibility in ministry, write a book, go back to school, or start a new career path, and God will allow you to experience success. What is God telling you to do that you have not started yet? There is a level of fear that comes following His lead, but you have to trust that if God is telling you to do it, He is going to see you through. Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy path."

Ladies, when God calls you to do anything, it is in you to accomplish it, and he will empower and equip you to complete the task. Do not let fear stop you from being obedient to God. You cannot worry about what people will think or who will or will not support you. "B" Brave! God is for you, and he will ensure that you everything that you need to complete the task that He has instructed you to begin.

Example in the Bible:

Deborah- "Barak was hesitant to obey the LORD, but Deborah boldly reminded him of God’s promise to go before them, and the blessings that come with obedience." (Judges 4 & 5)

- Deborah acted in a position that no other woman had during her time. During a time where men alone led the nation of Israel, Deborah was a prophetess that God used to be a voice in the kingdom. Fear could have gripped her from saying what God told her to say or stepping into a position as the only female Judge. However, she was an available vessel who God could use. Are you available?

2. Be Unashamed of who you are It takes Bravery to live unashamed of who you are and your stance as it relates to your faith and relationship with Christ. Everyday there are opportunities for you to take a stand for God, make God known in your response, or mention God. Romans 1:16 states, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile." God honors those who honor Him (1 Samuel 2:30).

Example in the Bible:

Rehab- "Rahab the prostitute hid three Hebrew spies sent by Joshua to gauge the defences of the city. (Joshua 2:1-7) In doing so, she saved their lives. She then helped them escape. (Joshua 2:15-24) In return, they promised that when the city was attacked, Rahab and her family would be spared."

- Rehab honored God by making sure his children were taken care of when they went to spy out the land God told them was for them. In return, God spared her and her family. She was not ashamed to say that she had heard about the God of Israel and there successful conquests by the power of their God, which caused her to believe. When you are unashamed, it should cause you to act. Later, she was listed in the Chapter of Faith- Hebrews 11:31 ESV - By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.

3. Be Prayerful in the midst of Adversity

Prayer is so vital to being a Brave Woman. Prayer is our greatest source of strength because it is how we connect to God. When adversity comes, we have to be Brave. Various situations and circumstances will arise to challenge your faith. However, when the enemy comes against you, prayer is another weapon you must use. Ephesians 6:18, "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people."

When you are prayerful, the enemy cannot do as he pleases to you. Instead, you walk in the power and authority that God has given you. Although adversity will come, in prayer, you bring things back in alignment through the authority that God has given you. Prayer brings about change because you are going to your father and acting in the power He gives to his children.

2 Corithians 10:4-5, "4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"

Example in the Bible:

Praying Women- Ephesians 12: 12-14, "12 So, when he had considered this, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together praying. 13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a girl named Rhoda came to answer. 14 When she recognized Peter’s voice, because of her gladness she did not open the gate, but ran in and announced that Peter stood before the gate."

- During a time where the church was being persecuted for their faith in Christ, the people were gathered together praying that Peter would get released from jail. This was Brave! As a result, an angel went to the jail and freed Peter, and Peter went to Mary's house to show what God had done. It is amazing that the young girl was so excited that she just turned around and ran back, but it is beauty in this moment. This was the next generation also at the prayer meeting, and she knew exactly why they were together. Your prayer life can impact your children or the generation after you. She now had a testimony of what God could do.

Ladies "B" Brave in action:

1. Be obedient to God

2. Be Unashamed of who you are

3. Be Prayerful in the midst of Adversity

Your Victory will come from your willingness to be brave in spite of the fear that will try to silence you or keep you stagnant. God has much for you to do. You will only see that unfolded when you live Bravely.
