Praise & Prayer Until the Breakthrough
Hello Ladies! I am excited about beginning this new series for the month of April. The theme is "Tested but not Defeated." I believe this is going to be a month of recovery, refreshing, and encouraging. In life, we can be tested in various areas of our lives: marriage, health, children, work, finances, self-image, mental health, and so much more. However this month, I hope to encourage you to continue to press forward into destiny and purpose to reach the dreams and goals that you have set for your future. Although things may look dark at times, the test does not mean you will be defeated.
Defeat- bring to naught, to eliminate or deprive of something expected.
By definition, when you choose to believe the Word of God, defeat is not even an option for the faith-filled believer unless they choose to give up.
When you are faced with challenges in this life, how do handle the pressure? What do you do when it looks like the obstacle has canceled out the promise? Who do you call on when the weights of life feel as if they are smothering you? What do you do when when the responsibilities are more difficult than anticipated? Do you accept defeat?
No, you cant! Then, how do you live beyond the load of the challenges until the relief of victory? PERSPECTIVE
There are people who love to climb mountains. If a person who loves to climb mountains decided to focus on the length of the distance from point A to point B, they may change their mind. If they focused on the type of animals they could run into they may change their mind. If they focused on how tired they would become, they may change their mind. If they stood at the bottom of the mountain and never took a step, they would never reach the top of the mountain. What are you looking at that seems to hard, too challenging, too difficult, too enormous, or unattainable? Your outlook on a situation can make or break you. Your outlook on a matter can determine whether or not you attempt to move forward.
Examine your views on things that you find challenging in your life. Have you already given up on the situation? Have you already said its been too long so things will not change or get better? Have you already said it is too hard for you to accomplish? Have you already said God must have meant that for someone else and not me? That's living life through the eyes of defeat, and Jesus did not sacrifice his life and rise again for you to live that way. There are blessings for you, victories for you, abundance for you, and so much more. I heard someone say that God has to become more real to you than any circumstance that you are faced with. It is an opportunity for God to get the glory out of your life. Your victory is a glimpse of God's magnificence, power, and love.
1 Peter 1:6-7, "In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Christ."
Paul & Silas
In Acts 16: 16-10, we have an account of what happened after Paul and Silas went to jail for casting a devil out of a slave woman who was using divination to make move for her masters.
After being beat and thrown and prison Paul and Silas could have sat in the prison discouraged and angry with God, but they did the complete opposite. Their response to this situation is a great example of having the right perspective in the midst of challenging circumstances. They did not sit in the prison defeated. The Bible says that Paul and Silas were in the prison praying and signing hymns to God. How is that possible? How can they be imprisoned and beaten and still praise God? I know the devil was mad. The devil was hoping they would give up. Then of course the enemies of Paul and Silas were hoping for them to give up too because they were tired of them preaching the gospel of Christ. BUT, instead of sitting in depression, these men were praying and singing to God.
These men were TESTED but they were not DEFEATED. The circumstances were uncomfortable, but they were strong. They were in pain, but they were encouraged. They were imprisoned by their circumstances, yet they were free. They could have been hopeless, but they were full of Faith. In the midst of your testing, find yourself in prayer and find yourself praising God. Your victory is found in Him. When your perspective in clear, you can expect the unexpected!
I don't know what you are dealing with right now, but I believe God is saying to you start to expect the unexpected. It is time to look at the situation through a new set of eyes. God is going to change somethings around in your life if you just look through the lens of Faith. I pray that your prayer life is sparked in this season, and I pray that your praise and worship goes to another level in this season because look at what happened to Paul and Silas.
As Paul and Silas continued to pray and sing praises to God, it states that the jail shook the doors were opened. However, Paul and Silas did not take the opportunity to run away or escape. The guard who thought they ran out was about to kill himself, and they stopped him. He asked what he needed to do to be saved. They led him and his family to the Lord. Then, the people who put them in jail ended up coming back to let them out. WOW! What a turn around. God showed his power, people were saved, and their enemy let them out of jail. God wants to make a complete transformation in your situation, but it going to take a change in perspective so you can take action to be in a position for God to move.
I pray that you are encouraged today! No matter how difficult things maybe. I have been in dark places in my life where I needed God. I wanted to give up. I started to believe that things would not change. However, I had to pick myself up and change my outlook. Then, God did the remarkable in my life. A story to be told in due timing. What are you going to allow God to change in your life through a change in your perspective? Let Him work! Praise & Pray Until your Breakthrough!
TESTED BUT NOT DEFEATED!
