No More Negativity
Hello everyone, we have made it through to the middle of the new year! God has been blessing tremendously! I pray that you have been walking in expectation and that you will continue to do so for this new year. The theme for this month is Pursing Purpose. The topic of focus for today is "No More Negativity."
Negativity- lacking in constructiveness, helpfulness, optimism, cooperativeness,or the like:
As you are moving forward in 2018, it is important that you take a stand against negativity. Negativity will keep you at a certain level even though you desire to reach new heights in your life. The camouflage of negativity is the idea of it is "truth." However, if the negative words, thoughts, or actions are contrary to what God would say concerning any matter, then it is not "truth" at all. God can turn anything around for the better. God can make the impossible very possible. Therefore, you have to keep a perspective filled with faith, hope, love, peace, and expectation as you are pursuing purpose in 2018. If you do not avoid negativity, you will loose sight of God, your miracle, your blessings, or your goals. The Bible states in Philippians 4:8, "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things."
Negativity is toxic to your purpose. In 2018, stay away from toxic conversations, toxic thoughts, and toxic people who speak death and not life into where God is taking you.
What You Must Do in 2018 to Avoid the Toxicity of Negativity:
1. Protect your Ear Gate:
Romans 10:17, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
- What you hear is a gateway to the way you believe. If faith comes by hearing, then faith can also leave based on what you hear. For example, if you are believing God for something and someone shoots down what you are trusting God for, you could be hindered or discouraged. Be careful who you share your dreams and goals with in 2018. Allow God to work in your life without having to fight through thoughts of doubt and unbelief because of negativity that was spoken to you. Make a choice to change the conversation, leave the conversation, or address the need to avoid negativity to move forward. There are certain things that only God can change. Negative talking will not change the matter but Faith in God will.
2. Watch Your Words:
Proverbs 18:21, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit."
- Sometimes others can be initiators of negativity, but if we can be honest, when it gets hard, things get confusing, or the waiting process becomes frustrating, we can find ourselves saying things that are negative first. When you are believing God for something, no matter what it looks like in the natural, you have to speak life to whatever the situation maybe. What you say will either put you closer to your destiny or move you further away from it. Don't allow a temporary circumstance to block your view of your eternal promise from God. Speak victory, healing, miracles, blessings, favor, overflow, and fulfillment of promise in your life in 2018.
3. Control Your Thoughts:
II Corinthians 10:5, "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;" - It is important to be ready to combat the enemy that comes to attack your mind. Joyce Meyers wrote a book titled, "The Battlefield of the Mind" where she deals with how Satan works to infringe upon the way we think. Miles Monroe stated that the most power weapon that we have is our mind. This is why we cannot allow the enemy to plant negative thoughts in our mind and allow them to stay. Instead, we have to rebuke him. Then, we have to replace every lie with the truth of what God says to you in His word, in prayer, or through a man or woman of God. Also, seek God in prayer in 2018. It is not your job to handle your battles on your own. Allow God to fight your battles. In prayer, God will build your endurance, give you strength where you are weak, and comfort you where you are hurting.
Altogether, in 2018, take the necessary steps to avoid negativity. The toxic nature of negativity is going to damage your faith, which will hinder you from pursing purpose this year. Someone is waiting on you at your next level. Therefore, protect your ear gate, watch your words, and control your thoughts. Make a choice to believe God no matter what. In the NFL this past Sunday, the Vikings beat the Saints at the last seconds of the game. If they had given up too soon, that final touchdown pass would have never happened. That moment will forever be in history. Will you make a choice to avoid negativity so that where God takes you also makes it into history?
