Claim Peace

Continuing with the theme of Pursuing Purpose for the month of January, the topic for today is Claim Peace.

Peace- freedom of the mind from annoyance, distraction, anxiety, an obsession, etc.; tranquility; serenity.

Peace is vital to your victory. Peace enables you to believe that there is a light at the end of the tunnel even when the light is not in visible range.

Trust God:

Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy path."

-Where peace is absence, trust in God has been compromised. Therefore, identify the areas of your life that you are having difficulty maintaining your peace. Then, pray and ask God to give you the ability to trust in his power, his word, and his promises concerning that matter

Maintain Peace Despite Challenges:

2 Kings 4::25-26, "So she set out and came to the man of God at Mount Carmel. When the man of God saw her coming, he said to Gehazi his servant, “Look, there is the Shunammite. 26 Run at once to meet her and say to her, ‘Is all well with you? Is all well with your husband? Is all well with the child?’” And she answered, “All is well.”

- God blessed this woman with a child. Her child took sick and died, but instead of loosing her mind, she rushed to the prophet for help. When the servant asked her was all well, her response was all is well. This shows her trust in God. She had peace about the situation. Her expectation was that her son would be made well. In the face of adversity, will you give up and loose your mind or will you be able to remain at peace knowing that God can turn the most devastating situations completely around? As you are pursing purpose, make sure that you claim peace no matter how bad things seem.

Keep God First:

Luke 10:40-42: "40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."

- Mary and Martha had Jesus over for a meal. Martha was busy working to make sure that everything was perfect, but Mary was at the feet of Jesus listening to His teachings. It is important that as you are pursuing purpose that you keep time to build your relationship with God. You can loose your peace by being so busy. Busying yourself causes anxiety, distress, and frustration if anything stops the flow of what you are doing. When you keep God first, you can be flexible when plans are altered.

In 2018, make it your business to Claim Peace. Do not let anything or anyone steal that from you. Satan wants to take your peace so that you are focused on everything outside of your purpose. He will attempt to magnify your difficulties and frustrate you with life, but don't let him. Trust God, Maintain Peace Despite Challenges, and Keep God First in 2018.

Depression will not be your name in 2018. Anger will not be your name in 2018. Bitterness will not be your name in 2018. Discouraged will not be your name is 2018. Failure will not be your name in 2018. Anxiety will not be your name in 2018. You are Pursuing Purpose, and in God's perfect timing the promises He has made to you will be fulfilled before your eyes. Walk with confidence, expectation, and hope that God will do great and wonderful things in your life this year! Claim PEACE!
