Seeking His Presence
Hello everyone. I am excited about this topic for our January theme of Pursuing Purpose. Seeking the Presence of God is vital when we are pursuing purpose. It is important that you understand that the best ideas, the steps that need to be taken, the direction you need to head in, and the clarity that you need on any endeavor comes from God. He is the most proven source of all. We are limited, but God is unlimited. Not only does he provide us with the knowledge, understanding, and ability, but he grants us favor and influence for expansion on what we desire to accomplish. There must be an intentional effort to seek God and build relationship with Him as you strive to do various things. Goals reached without God will be difficult to attain, and Goals attained without God will be difficult to maintain.
Seek-to go in search or quest of
Presence- attendance or company
Can you imagine in your mind God sitting at a table in a restaurant waiting for you to meet with Him? God is waiting to spend time with you. It is an intimate dinner. It is like the whole restaurant has been reserved for you and Him. He has so much he wants to share with you. He has so much he wants to say that will bring encouragement, comfort, and hope. You gain so much from time with Him, but the question is do you take the time to come to Him? Getting in the presence of God or being in attendance with or in the company of God, is to meet with the one who loves you more than anyone else can, the one who knows you better than anyone else does, the one who wants to listen more than anyone else can, and the one who has the answers no one else does. Will you meet with Him today?
Q&A on Entering into His presence:
1. Q- How do I enter His presence?
A- Psalm 95:2, "Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms."
-God is the reason why we are still alive today. No matter how bad things are, we have something that we can be thankful for. He is our King and Father.
2. Q- What is the value of His presence?
A- Psalm 16:11, "Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore." Joy- the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying; keen pleasure; elation.
-Life can weigh you down, and you need the Joy that comes from knowing that God is with you and is for you to move forward.
3. Q- Is God really waiting for me?
A-Psalm 27:8, "When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek."
-God is tells us to search for Him. The bible states there are mysteries of the Word that are revealed to the believer.
4. Q- What is God's Response?
A- Psalm 104:21, "I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me."
-God speaks to His children, and when we seek Him, he will always respond. God loves you so much. Why not get to know Him? Why not tell him about your hopes and dreams? Why not get closer to him?
I was watching a show about animals in the wild, and I was fascinated with the segment on the lions. I wanted to lay down and go back to sleep, but I was fully enthralled in what was happening in the show. There was a family of lions traveling looking for food. Everyone had to keep up because if they didn't eat, they would die. Sometimes they went days before they could find prey to capture and eat. The lions would almost starve to death and unfortunately some did. How is this related to this blog? We have to seek out God as if our lives depend on it. There will not be necessarily a physical death, but there can be a spiritual death. Each day we go without seeking God, we put ourselves in a predicament where we are literally starving ourselves of what is necessary for our survival. However, the difference between us and the lions on this show is that all we have to do is make time and seek out God. We do not have a shortage of food; however, we can find ourselves too distracted, unmotivated, and discouraged to seek and attain what is the most significant part of our being. But Let's say No More! Psalms 104:21, "The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God." We have to be as the young lion and seek God for everything that we need.
I believe that 2018 has the potential to be a year like non other if we meet with God more than we ever have before. There have been times in writing blogs and books where I was stuck or where I was dealing with challenging circumstances that took my attention. Nevertheless, when I lay in the bed and begin to pray, "bam" God gives me new ideas, fresh encouragement, new hope, and greater expectation.
We have to go to our Father, and he will aid us! He loves us too much to leave us helpless, hopeless, or in despair. Seek His Presence!
