How's Your Thinking?
Our topic of Living With Peace continues. Today, I wanted to talk to you from the topic of, "How's your thinking?"
Proverbs 23:7a, "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he."
Did you know that the way you think is an indication of what you believe? The enemy can produce an evil thought in your mind, but it is up to you to reject it. When you don't stop that ill thought, your thoughts will soon align themselves with that thought. This will result in your outlook of different circumstances. For example, if the enemy puts the thought in your mind that things wont get better and you agree with them, you will find yourself believing that. This can steal your peace because your peace only comes from your faith in God. However, when you lose sight of God in a matter, you also begin to lose your faith. Therefore, you have to fight against the negative thoughts.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
You have the power on the inside of you through the Holy Spirit to bring into captivity (confine) every thought that violates the truth of the Word of God. I know this may not be easy at first because if you have never realized that you began to accept the deceit of the enemy to defeat you, you have habitually entertained negative thoughts that have come to define how you handle various situations and people that enter your life. However, no matter how long you have done this, you can make a change today. You can choose peace, through relying on God's word instead.
There is a war going on over your future, and the enemy knows that if he can defeat you in your mind, it will change what you do from day to day. You cannot allow that to happen. Your Purpose and Destiny are in jeopardy when you live without peace. But Now, Fight Back! Rebuke the enemy and the negative thoughts, say what God says, pray over the matter, and believe God for the New!
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Prayer is necessary to defeat the enemy. You choose what you continue to think about. Change your thinking and it will change your life. Be intentional about changing your thinking.
What has the enemy been whispering in your ear lately?
Will you do something for me? First, make a list of some negative thoughts that you have ever had concerning yourself and any matter near your heart. Next, find scriptures that oppose those ideas. Finally, pray to God to help you fight the enemy with truth according to His word. You cannot do this without God.
In Worry-Free Living, Joyce Meyer states, " Rather than looking at our past failures, our present frailties, or our future fears, we should be trusting in God's wisdom, strength, and power. We should be reminding ourselves that no matter how many problems we may face, the One Who is with us is greater than all those who oppose us" (Meyer, p. 55).
