Lets look again at Psalm 121.
In the first verse David states that "I will lift up mine eyes to the hills, from where his help comes from." This verse reveals that David has come to the realization that God is His source of help, so he is making a conscious decision to seek God's face. Have your made that choice regarding the situation on your heart and the desires of your heart?
In the second verse, David begins to testify of the power of the God that he serves. If God made the heaven and Earth, then surely he can handle what I am facing.
In the third verse, David continues to talk about the character of who God is. This can only come from personal revelation from other obstacles that have stood in his way. In this verse David declares that God is a keeper.
In the fourth verse, David says that he neither slumber nor sleeps, that lets us know that God is always avaiable for you. It does not matter what time of the day or night that you go to Him for help, He is going to be there.
The fifth verse states, "The Lord is thy keeper, the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand." This shade is further reference to the fact that God is our protector. In the hottest moments of your life, God can be your source of coolness.
The sixth verse states, "The sun shall not smite thee by day nor the moon by night." The sun is the source of heat and the moon is the source of cool. Therefore, this verse is saying that heat or cold will not overtake you. This basically further supports the fact that God will keep you no matter the circumstances.
The seventh verse mentions that God is a preserver. Preserve means: to keep alive or in existence; make lasting.
Finally, the eighth verse states, "The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore." Here David shares that God's people will always be covered. That is the nature of who God is.
