Striving to Win
You must strive to win. In life, you will be faced with opportunities, but there will also be challenges and obstacles that work to stop your progress, your victory, and your destiny. This is the very reason that with every win one must striving for victory.
Strive- To make great effort to achieve or obtain something; to struggle or fight viciously.
Based on this definition, there is a mindset that has to be in place. When you are striving to reach your goals or striving to move forward after situation and circumstances have negatively impacted your outlook on life, there must be a confidence and a determination to win, to reach, to achieve. You cannot not let anything stop you! Strive with purpose.
1 Corinthians 9:24-26, "24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air."
We are about to Enter the NBA Finals. It will be the third year in a row where we will see the Cleveland Cavaliers versus the Golden State Warriors compete. It reminds me of years ago when it was constantly the Los Angeles Lakers versus the Boston Celtics. The finals for the championship is the biggest game of the year. Each player is expected to compete and perform at their highest level to be successful enough to win 4 out of 7 games. My husband uses this phrase, you will miss 100% percent of the shots you never take. You have to take some chances and step out on faith.
A follow through and a drive are both commonly known offensive terms for Basketball. They are always associated with the person who has the ball and is attempting to score.
Follow Through- The point is to let the ball leave your hand without slowing your motion, especially of the wrist and fingers. If you don't follow through, that means your hand stops when the ball leaves it. The ball needs guidance. If you don't follow through the ball can change directions.
- There are somethings that you desires to do. You have to remember that in order to make the shot your have to follow through. You have cannot start and then stop. You cannot through something up and expect it to fall into place. Refine and commit to your goals and dream. Expectation without preparation and execution is just like playing Russian roulette with your life.
Drive- Exploding off the dribble and attacking the gaps in the defense, forcing defenders to help, before passing it out to a teammate for an open shot if needed.
- The enemy has set up defenders to block you from reaching your goals. However, God has provided a path or gaps in the defense for you to reach your goal. You have the Word of God that is filled with promises. You have prayer and fasting to fight against the enemy. Then you have a team of people God has provided for you that you can utilize because they support you in reaching your goals.
Today, I wanted to encourage you to strive for greatness. Dont stop now. It is only a matter of time before your dream becomes your reality. It is only a matter of time before the pain of your past to become your testimony. It is only a matter of time before the prophecies to be fulfilled in your life. What the enemy has created to distract or block you, choose to overcome. Strive for the victory that was preordained for you to reach. Move forward!
Joseph had a dream as a boy. His brothers hated him because of his dream. They captured him and threw him in a pit, and then they sold him into slavery. He ended up being the keeper of his mater's house. He was the best. Joseph knew how to follow through in his work. It seemed like everything was starting to get better. Then, he was placed into jail because the wife of his mastered lied and said that Joseph tried to be with her intimately. For years, he was in jail. However, finally, being the only one who could interpret the pharaoh's dream, Joseph became second in command. Joseph was given an opportunity to use his God given gift. There was an opening despite what the enemy had in his way. The dream that he did not fully understand, became a reality. He was leader and his brothers and family needed him, and he was able to help them.
Has it ever looked as if things were too bad for them to get better? Then, have things got better only for something bad to happen again? You are not the first to experience this. Nevertheless, you continue to hold on to what God told you and showed you. It is only a matter of time. Strive to win! Follow Through on every shot and Drive during every opportunity to advance your dream or goal. God is with you. He has not forgotten you. He still has a plan for your life.
