Wounded but Not Destroyed
Wounded but Not Destroyed
Are you hurting? Have you ever been hurt? Have you ever been disappointed? Do you feel like giving up? Have you lost your peace? Do you feel like you’re no longer yourself? Do you wonder what the future holds? Do you feel helpless or hopeless?
The obstacles that one faces in this life can truly be hard to withstand. I do not know the challenges that you have faced in your life. I am not even sure that I could have handled the tests and trials that you have endured thus far. However, I know what it is to be wounded by life’s obstacles. I know what it means to have a test of your Faith. I know what it means to be hurting so bad that you have to make a choice to surrender everything to God or hold on to anger, resentment, depression, and bitterness. There are days when you feel like superwoman or superman and you can stand with your head held high. Then, there are days when you feel like you are going to throw in the towel. However, there is always something on the inside that will not allow you to do that. You hear the call of God. You hear the nudge of the word inside of you that tells you to do what right: trust God, yield the pain to him, and forgive.
I have been there. But I can tell you it is one things to be wounded, but you must remember that you have not been destroyed. The situation that you are facing was meant to destroy you. Even in every test, the devil desires that you forfeit. However, you cannot do that. Although, you have been wounded, God is greater. There is a song by Maurette Brown-Clark called Sovereign God. The song says: You are the Sovereign God, bigger than all my problems and every situation. There is nothing too hard for the Sovereign God. Do you believe that?
I reflect on the love that God has for me often. It is just so amazing that someone would die for me. It is that Truth alone that can give you hope even in the darkest places in your life. Romans 5:8 “But while we were yet sinners Christ Died for us.” That is so powerful. When we were refusing him, denying him, avoiding him, and ignoring him, Christ still decided to die for us. He saw the choices that we would make that did not honor him or acknowledge him, but he still went to Calvary to die and rise again. We have to look to that. The bible says in Hebrews 12:2 “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him ENDURED the CROSS, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
When we realized that we are wounded, but not destroyed, we can come to the understanding that we can continue to move forward. We can continued to fight. As believers in God we are not victims. The bible says that we are more than conquerors. Imagine if a firefighter went into rescue someone and gave up because of the flames, the fire burning his arm, the smoke, or the heat of the fire. As people sometimes we feel like we are in a fire. It looks bad as we look around and access the situation. However, are you the firefighter or are you the one who needs to be rescued? You have to see yourself as the firefighter. You have the training and the equipment to get out safely and help someone else too. Only without God are we the ones in trouble, but with God we are the rescuers because we have already been rescued through the victory Christ has given us. Romans 8:37 says that we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.
You may be wounded, but you are not destroyed. The odds may seem stacked against you, but you are able to overcome. The situation may look dark, but you have the light of Christ. You may feel trapped, but the cage is opened. Keep moving forward!!!
