Recognizing the Leakage
Recognizing the Leakage
Have you ever experienced a lack of faith? Have you ever wondered if God still loved you? Have you ever wondered where your joy in life disappeared? Have you wondered when the anger and bitterness would go away from past hurts? Have you wondered when you would feel strong again? Have you given your life to Christ?
Situations in life sometimes can seemingly knock the life right out of you. You find yourself acting and reacting in a way that is out of the ordinary for you. You want to change because you know it’s toxic for you, but you just can manage to get it together. I present to you today that it is time to go to the Potter’s House (Go to God).
Jeremiah 18: 1-4 NKJV
18 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: 2 “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” 3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.
Potter-a craft artist who uses their artistic talents to create pots, dishes, mugs, vases, and other types of artwork.
Clay- What is handled and crafted by the potter
Vessel- The finished product of the potter that is ready for use
Marred- impaired, disfigured, scared, blemished
6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
When we initially accept Christ into our loves he puts on his wheel and we were just clay and he began to mold us, shape us, and make us, and we had to stay on the wheel no matter how uncomfortable we were because we understood that God knows what is best. Then, when he saw that we were going to stay, he gave us the Holy Ghost so that we could have power, and he send us out as refined vessels to help build his kingdom. But at some point a crack formed in our vessel.
So, when I found out that a crack could form in the vessel, I did some research about clay pots in the natural. I found out that a pot made of clay was fixable, but it is not fixed the same way it is made. First, they drill two holes at the source of the crack, and then they put copper wire in the holes to cover the crack, and finally they use something to grab the ends of the copper wire and slowly twist them firmly together and nothing will come out of the pot. So yes a pot is fixable, but it is not re-created. David said, “Create in me a clean heart oh God and renew in the right spirit in me.” David did not ask God to give him a new heart or a new spirit, but David said create in me a clean heart and renew the right spirit. Basically he was saying keep me in your presence, and allow your spirit to remain in me. In other words, David said God fix me, fix the crack in my vessel.
Now it is exciting to know that we serve a God, who can look at the condition of our vessel, and he can go to the source of the problem and fix the crack as needed. For example, if you were hurt by the negative words someone said, he’ll start there. If you began to worry about your health problems, he’ll start there. IF you began to gossip because other people around you gossip, he’ll start there. If you are stressed about bills that need to be paid, he’ll start there. If your attitude has taken a turn for the worst, he’ll start there. Often your current problem is not the problem that started the crack, but it is the extinction of the crack. You have to make it to the Potter before the vessel is too damaged to be repaired. But don’t worry because this your emergency alert is saying, “Let’s go back to the potter’s house.”
Philippians 1:6 “Being confident in this very thing, that he which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
The bible says, “The joy of the Lord is our strength.” But if you don’t go to the Potter you can’t have joy in the midst of what you are going thought. Therefore, where will your strength come from?
Then allow God to repair the cracks in our lives. If he has to start us back as the clay then it’s because he has broken us because we would not heed the warning and the conviction by the spirit to repent and allow him to continue to mold you are the designated time. That’s why we must go back to the Potter’s house for him to fix the cracks because when he fixes those cracks we are rejuvenated, refilled, and revived.
