What does trusting God look like?
It is easy to trust God when things are going well, but it imperative that we learn to trust God when things seem to be going wrong. Months ago God gave me an acronym for the word Trust.
Transitions and Turmoil
In life sometimes we are put in a situation where we have to go through some life altering transitions. It may be marriage, it may be a new job, it may be starting your own business or ministry, it may be changing ministries, it may be moving to another state or country, it may by having a child, it may be losing a love one, it may be going to college, and it may be life after college. These are some of the severe Transitions that we may find ourselves in. In these times we need to TRUST God.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto thy own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy path.”
The T & R can be the hardest things to do.
Total- comprising the whole, entire, absolute, involving all aspects
Therefore, when you say you are going to trust God, there is no room for doubt. There is no room for fear, worry, or stress. Instead, we have to choose to believe God for direction, instruction, help, and everything else we will need.
Reliance- confidence or trustful dependence
This further explains the notion of total trust. We have to be confident that God is able to do the impossible (Matthew 19:26). No matter how bleak the situation may seem in the natural. God is a miracle working God, and there is nothing that he cannot fix, turn around, change, or bring about blessings.
Under-This is not literally being under something. For example, Under attack and under siege is nothing like under the bridge or under the covers. This under instead means subject to the control of something.
When it comes to our faith in God, sometimes we are under attack by the devil. In this acronym a person is under severe turmoil or transition. They do not have any control over what is taking place. Therefore, you are subject to the control of the turmoil or transition. However, be confident that God is with you, and he will take care of you!
Severe- harsh, extreme, serious in manner or appearance, critical, causing discomfort or distress
There are many things that we have gone through, are going through, and will go through that are severe in the natural. However, no matter how horrific or challenging it may seem. We must know that since God is all powerful, all knowing, and everywhere at the same time, he is going to guide us if we look to him.
Transition- movement, passage, or change from one position, state, stage, subject, concept, etc. to another
Turmoil- a state of great commotion, confusion, or disturbance, agitation, turbulence, disorder, uproar
Life is filled with transitions, and then sometimes we go through moments in our life where we experience turmoil. Nevertheless, we must realize that if God allowed us to go through this, we can make it.
What God said in his Word!
-He won’t put more on you than you can bear- 1 Cor. 10:13
-All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose- Romans 8:28
- For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us- Romans 8:18
- The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way- Psalm 37:3
- No weapon formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue which rises against you in judgement shalt be condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this righteousness is of me, Saith the Lord – Isaiah 54:17
So, be encouraged and know that God has everything under control. No matter what new transition life brings you or what turmoil you may be currently facing. God is with you, and he is able to take you through the storm if you let him. He desires that you come to him. He wants to give you rest, peace, joy, strength, direction, hope, healing, and restoration. Will you let him? Will you trust him?
