Don't let Your Brokenness Pull You Away from God, Instead Draw Closer to Him
Brokenness comes from the word Broken, which means to be fractured, smashed, or incomplete. There are many situations that can arise in our lives that can cause us to be in a state of brokenness. However, with God, we do not have to stay there. In every situation there is an opportunity for growth, development, and building a relationship with God.
When you feel broken what do you do? Where do you go to find hope? Who should you rely on during the moments where you feel overwhelmed? We have to learn to find rest in God's truths. The word of God is were we can find rest and hope. Ecclesiastes 1:9 tells us that there is nothing new under the sun. The things that your are facing there is someone else who has been in a very similar situation. If God could help them make it through, he can help you make it through also.
How do you draw closer to God you ask. When you begin to feel overwhelmed, you have to take action. You cannot allow the enemy to take into a state of depression or keep your there. You cannot sit there and just feel sorry for yourself. You have to find a way to encourage yourself.
There are many ways that you can do this such as: Read scriptures that speak directly to what is effecting you. You can read stories in the bible that relate to your situation, you can listen to messages that are topical to address your problem, and you can read scriptures that will build you up in your walk with Christ. Some of the most encouraging passages when I have felt discouraged were Psalms (27, 34, 61, 63, and 121), Romans (5, 8, and 12), I Corinthians (2),, Ephesians (1 and 6), Philippians (3,4), and 1 Peter (5).
Another way to encourage yourself is through prayer. The Bible says cast all your cares upon him (God) for he cares for you. God knows that is going on in your life. However, he wants you to learn to trust that he has everything under control. Prayer gives you the opportunity to share with God what is on your heart and ask for his help, peace, joy, strength, guidance, and hope. Then you have to position yourself to wait to hear what God would like to share with you concerning what you are facing. God is a loving God, and he care about YOU.
A final way that I will say you can encourage yourself is to speak life over yourself and whatever situation is bothering you. You have to learn to declare the word of God over your life. The death, burial and Resurrection of Jesus has made us heirs to the promises of God and the Holy Spirit. There is power in our tongues, and when we use the word of God and decree something over our lives, God moves for us.
All of these things are building something very key in you. They are building your faith in God. Often God allows situations to happen in our lives to build our faith. The bible says that he would not put more on us than we can bare. You have to trust that God is able to do the impossible, you must trust that God can fix any situation, you must trust that God loves you. If some of the situations that you are face with are because of wrong decisions you have made, know that God makes all things work together for the good to them that love him (Romans 8:28). Walk with God throughout the situation and let him be the source of everything you feel is lacking in your life. God never fails, sometimes we give up too soon. In the midst of your building your faith, God is maturing you for the purpose and plan that he has for your life. You are not forgotten, you are not invaluable, and you are not unusable. God wants to use you, will you let him?
